2.1.5 (only when migrating to this version)

Symptoms:


After migrating to Gaia 2.1.5 from a lower version, the sky and / or water turn white when changing the lighting or water profile for an existing scene.

Cause:

The way Gaia handles the settings from the water and lighting profiles in the scene has changed in version 2.1.5 and can lead to the entries in the profiles being reset to the default parameters. The change in the water and lighting profiles then is permanent.

Fix: 

To fix this, please execute the following steps:


  1.  Delete the Gaia Global object from your scene. Make sure that you backup any customization in this object that you want to keep before deletion, e.g. if you added custom objects below the Gaia Global object, you would need to move them elsewhere in the scene hierarchy until the fix is complete.


  2. Delete both the Lighting and Water profiles from your Gaia installation. Those can be found under:
    Assets\Procedural Worlds\Gaia\Lighting\Gaia Lighting System Profile
    Assets\Procedural Worlds\Gaia\Water\Gaia Water System Profile

  3. Save the scene and open a new scene.

  4. Restart the unity editor.

  5. Import the patch package in the attachments via Assets -> Import Package -> Custom Package. (It only contains the original Lighting and Water Profiles as a convenient way to restore those).

  6. Open your original scene back up, and add water and lighting to the scene as you would regularly, e.g. by executing Step 2 in the Gaia Manager. The issue should now be fixed.
